The CEWARN reporter is a web-based tool that enables CEWARN track, categorize and analyze large volumes of conflict early warning data from IGAD’s seven member states. Its current design is an upgraded version of what CEWARN used in its first decade of operation with a limited focus on pastoral and related conflicts in two cross-border areas of the IGAD region, with data exclusively drawn from weekly incident and situation reports.
The upgrade reflects CEWARN’s expanded operational mandate since September 2012 to begin to cover a wider spectrum of conflict typologies and geographic areas across the IGAD region. The current version of CEWARN Reporter accommodates more data streams/ sources including from SMS-based crowd sourcing and the Media as well as structural data. It also contains cutting edge visualization tools in terms of graphic representation of analysis.
